Basic Rules for Seeds
« on: March 18, 2017, 08:23:01 »
A question i get asked a lot is when can i pick my seeds
The answer is not as easy to answer but a few rules are observed
1.After a minimum of 6 months seeds are then viable and the berry will be soft some sellers will sends seeds then, the whole umdel should be put upside down in a brown paperbag in a warm place they should colour up in a few weeks normally two weeks,
2. Seeds of Akebono i have found should be planted much later early December or late November as i found when planted to early will lead to albinistic trends an be lost
Remember to wash your seeds with a wehak solution of antibacterial dishwashing soap 5ml per 1 Lir of water for about 5 minutes rinse well ,at this stage i would put seeds in the sun for a few hours then rub it softly to get tye skins off, sometimes they have a second membrane that makes them rot
I find this easier to do then as the membrane rubs of easier
the seeds can now be sowed in a seedbox or a propagator
My tip for the day
