Michael,
The wait paid off! The flowers are beautiful.

How long did you wait? Could you please show us a photo of the whole plant?

Kind regards,
Elke

Thanks for sharing Michael - great to see they breed true. Can you remember what the base colour of the seedling was?

All the best
Pieter

Hi Elke,
My wait is not as long as my friend who planted the seeds in 2006. He gave me a few seedlings about 3 years ago making the plants about 9 years old. Should have flowered a lot earlier if my friend had the time and space to grow them on.

here is a picture of the plant comapred to a clivia colour chart.

Hi Martin, I am going to mostly self pollinate it to get more seeds. A few flowers i intend to pollinate with a high flower count bronze miniata and hoping to recover an interspecific in F2 with this pale colour. Will show the results in 10 years time :)

yes Pieter they do breed true. I have got some F2 Caroline's pride seedlings from another friend and they are all unpigmented too.

Michael,
Thank you very much for the photo!

It is astonishing that this plant needed such a lot of leaves to start blooming. You had to have a lot of patience.

The rule that clivias can flower with 13 or 14 leaves seems not to appropriate for this plant.

Kind regards,
Elke

Yes Elke, I do find that the 13 leaves maturity really only applies  mainly for the miniata. I wonder if everyone else experience the same thing?
