Roger,
last year I got this book from my husband at Christmas. It is a wonderful book and I can recommend it highly! I read it carefully and browse in it from time to time.

I'm so pleased you are still enjoying it.
My neighbours do art prints and have brought out a series by the artist Sibonelo Chiliza who did the illustrations.
http://www.artprintsa.com/sibonelo-chiliza.html
He's just curated the prints and had them signed by the artist.
There's also been a lovely set of depictions of stapelia which wont pass as botanical illustration but beautifully observed artworks
http://www.artprintsa.com/hanneke-benade.html
Then I've recently met Leigh Voight at home who is busy finalising illustrations for a project begun by her mother Barbara Jeppe to illustrate the Amaryllidaceae of southern Africa, about 240 botanical illustrations. Amongst those species she has had to add to the illustrations is Clivia mirabilis since it was discovered after her mother's death. A breathtaking project which should go to press this year.  I'm sure there will be opportunity for subscription. If anyone is interested in being kept updated on this let me know.
Every best wish for 2011.

Roger,
every time I am browsing in your wonderful book, I get caught on the second picture on page 92 and the above picture on page 94.

I want to know, to whom these marvellous clivias belong. It would be great, if you could give me the answer.

With kind regards,
Elke

They are file photos from Tony Barnes and Hein Grebe
I'd have to check Tony's to find which part of the country they're in.
Hein's I'm sure is of a Chinese grower.
Sorry, at the moment I can't be more specific that that but will do some sleuthing.

Roger

Thank you verys much, Roger! It would be very kind, if you could do it.

On page 94: The first photo from Hein Grebe seems to me beeing a photo of a South African grower. The second photos looks like a Chinese green house.

I am interested in the first photo.

With kind regards,
Elke

I've just had news from Briza that the book is now officially out of print.
Should it go to reprint I'll do a post, although that is not planned for immediately.
Elke
I see I still owe you an answer.
I hope I remember to ask Hein Grebe when next we have contact.

Roger

If we're all on the same page then the photo is of Hein Grebe's own farm in George.

There's recently been an enquiry from the USA re a planned 2012 reprint of this book, announced on one of the book selling sites. I spoke with Christo Reitz, CEO of the publishers Briza, and he has confirmed that there is no intention to reprint in the forseeable future. They are however investigating the possibilities for an e-book. I'll keep those interested updated here.
Btw, NACS in the States still have copies available and I see the book as being in the stock of Van Schaik's in Pretoria.

Roger
