Hi Lionel,

I'm sick in bed with bronchitis and it's overcast outside, not that I'm complaining about the weather.

You have just made my day with this awesome scene. Nature sure paints the most beautiful pictures!

Thank you for brightening up my day.

Debbie

What a bright and cheery garden. My garden and world is stark white, I'd rather have color!!

Simply Stunning!  This is how I like clivia in mass display.  However not many gardening enthusiasts have the chance to see this new beauty of clivia.  If they do we would have many more clivia enthusiasts around the world!  Thanks for sharing.

About 4 years ago Mary .
This was part of the Coenraad Vermaak collection we bought a few years ago .
Coenraad  said we could take them but I could not bring myself to remove them from the garden at his office.
He sold this property last year so the new owners are in for a surprise in September .
I did take the seeds though !!

This is Debbie and my wish ...... to fill my home town with large areas of landscape clivias .
3 years ago we donated a few hundred plants to the " Mayoral Garden ", they would not pay so we had to do it FOC .
Now it is payback time as we are in the process of trying to prise money out of them for our Conference .
About 4 years ago we donated about a  thousand clivias to a school in the middle of Pietermaritzburg , our home town.
The school children were reclaiming a very badly polluted wetland area above the University , it has been a very
successful project with clean water now flowing .
As compensation the school has offered our club the use of their School hall FOC for our shows .

On the 18th of this month ,Sean Chubb and I have a meeting with our Citiy`s " Chamber of Commerce " .
I have been trying for years to get the City to re establish clivias in gardens and public places throughout our City
I would love to see MILLIONS and MILLIONS of clivias in bloom in parks and business gardens around our City .
The mountains to the north of our City were once filled with pockets of indigenous forest where clivias were
growing . This has now been turned into plantations .
I would love to see some of that area being converted back to indigenous forest ....
Maybe ....just maybe ...that could become a reality .
The City has adopted our beloved  Clivia as our City`s flower after the Mayor visited our Nursery a few years ago .
Now we need to put some action into that proclamation and make Pietermaritzburg " The City of Clivias "
We will count ourselves  successfull when September tourism in our City is centred around clivia sight seeing .
Regards,
             Lionel and Debbie

Awesome Lionel, Im sure we all wish you the best of luck with that, and hopefully people will become more aware not only of the Clivias but of the need to preserve nature too.
In Cape Town the Tokai plantation was cut down for a sandveld nature reserve as part of the Table Mt National Park, amidst much anguish from many people who said the fynbos would not return.  But it did, and they discovered that 20, and even 40yr old seedbanks were alive and well and ready to spring into action.  Now there are wonderful paths and everyone enjoys this precious place and so much awareness has been generated.
