Quality over quantity Mike. That's a really nicely grown plant.

Never mind the flower [although if a first bloom, already a winner]
Just look at the structure of that base!
Well done!

     Hello All,
I am most gratified by your positive comments.  It was a stroke of good fortune to be able to get such a fine plant.  All the credit for it's form and quality must go to Andrew Spitz, who grew the plant, and shipped it so perfectly, without a bit of damage.  (He is 1969vette on Ebay.)
Tedd: not only is it my first yellow, I must confess that it's the first yellow clivia flower I have ever seen!  I saw yours back a while ago, congratulations!  Aren't they wonderful?  My neighbors are all coming around to gaze at it.
Lionel: the medium is approx. 75% coconut husk chips, 25% pumice, and a small amount of coarse sand.
Roger: this plant had a few flowers remaining when I recieved it back in November, so it's not a first flower.  Thank you for the kind words.  It means a lot coming from you!
     Ditto Marilyn!

Mike,I had looked the plant several time.the compact base and uptoward leaf make it lookd jauntier.Did its longest about 400mm and widest 60mm.its origin should is Japan?
Next bloom season,If I can get some quality chinese broad yellow pollen,I will keep some for the lovely plant if you wanna, then you can do a good cross. Her has no reason not to produce more excellent offspring :)

Thanks, Maria, Johan, and Tremaine. :)
Li Qiang, your estimate is very good.  The longest leaf is about 350 mm long, and the widest leaf is 50 mm wide.  I do not know anything about the origin of Arturo's Yellow.  Perhaps Marilyn or Maria would know.  If you can get broad leaf yellow pollen, I will certainly use it, and would be most grateful.  Thank you!

Arturo's Yellow was developed at San Marcos Growers, a wholesale nursery in Santa Barbara, California, from yellow clivias that started appearing at the nursery in the 1990s. Many generations of line breeding to get the quality in this strain, which includes compact size, good color, vigorous health, abundant offsets, multiple umbels, and even fragrance. I was doing some research on it and came across this forum posting, so I thought to add the history here for others to find in the future.
