Weather Warning details
« on: June 07, 2011, 16:44:26 »
Now this is the type of warning from the Weather Services that I DON'T like:

Current warning: Gauteng

Updated: 07/06/2011 16:22:36
Watch: Be prepared
Subject: Heavy falls and severe storms
Detail: Valid 08/06/2011 WATCH: 1. Heavy rain is expected over Gauteng. 2. Severe thunderstorms are possible in places over Gauteng.

This site has some good info as well for the whole country: http://saweatherobserver.blogspot.com/ - have a look at the weather satellite image - lots of cloud heading to JHB!

Kind regards
Pieter

It has been raining in Bloemfontein almost non-stop since 19:00 last night. The area where I live has already received just over 60mm in this period. Radio reports state that several roads in the Free State have been closed due to flooding and heavy mist.

Being a summer rain fall area, we are not used to cold wet weather. My weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 9C today.

Here's a good weekly surf forecast for East London with sea temps, tides and swell direction for your fishing Peter:

Thanks, Michael! Have added it as a bookmark - with the sea at 23 degrees and the atmospheric temp. at 20, maybe I should go for a surf!

and there was lots of WIND, rain and hail... still some lightning and thunder in JHB - I am just glad I am out of traffic this morning - at one stage it was almost pitch dark...

If you look at the traffic at http://www.tomtom.com/livetraffic/ around Jo'burg it looks like a bloody mess!!

I measured approx 50mm of rain this morning in North Riding.

Regards
Pieter

If i havent seen this images with my own eyes i would have called you a liar.

I worked for a national clothing company  for a couple of years, travelling from Upington up to the furthest North in Namibia (Suidwes Afrika ) Shops in every town . Were  there was a church and a bottlestore there was a Christo Wiese/Renier van Rooyen clothing store.

Driving thousands of kilometers , but never saw such a sight. Yes Pieter the climate is changing for the worst.

From a freezing cold , rainy Rayton.
