Gideon

Please correct something.

1) Charlsgreen is not an interspesific as thought.
2) It behaves at least like a group 2 yellow miniata.
3) But it doesnt show the yellow shade like most Hirao.

It selfves, but poorly, then it gives greenstems.
It crosses well with different groups,  with different results.

Thankyou very much
Charl Coetzee.

Excellent endeavor Gideon! What a useful tool.

Is Victorian peach a group 1 or group 2 peach? I see you have it listed in both groups.

Found a new one while researching.

Green Bomb - Group 2 Yellow

Shige said it is a mutation from TK yellow and both of it's parents are Group2.
We are blessed for only one reason...to share.

As a link to this thread was made by a more recent post at another thread, I still would like to know if Victorian Peach is a group 1 or 2 plant? It has been listed as both.

Bob:

On Victorian Peach: I have been told that the majority of these are G2, but there are in fact strains of these that are both G1 and G2. Its something some breeders have been working on with the strain.

Chris Smit:

There are multiple Genes that cause "yellow" in clivias. This is a thread grouping certain plants that are turned yellow by certain genes into groups, Specifically Group 1 (G1) and Group 2 (G2) Gideon is also creating a Group 3 of his as well. Previously I had been told Group 3 was the name being used for plants with both the G1 and G2 genes :) So, if you hear a plant being referred to as Group 3 its either going to be one of the plants Gideon listed or its going to have both genes in there.

This gets important while breeding because if you breed a G1 yellow to a G2 yellow, the result would be an orange plant every time in the first generation. If you know this information, and are trying to breed yellows, you save yourself a few years and a few headaches :)  (However my understanding is that you will have both sets of genes recessive in the next generation, which could in fact be a good thing)

Not a long explanation ;)

Anyone know where Wittig Pink falls? I have a seedling currently in bloom that is WP x Cameron Peach. I got a mix of pigmented and unpigmented seedlings out of the lot. This first bloomer is a gorgeous yellow with pink and salmon highlights. I can't wait for the sister seedlings to flower.

This one was unpigmented.

Kirstenbach Yellow X Appleblossom Q2 spawned a mix of clear and colored bases.

Take from that what you will :)

A Kirstenbosch Yellow X Appleblossom was auctioned off during the last NACS auction.  It was a clean yellow (not much signs of blushing, pinks from AB impact) as far as I could tell from the pictures.  I supposed that's what you should expect for the seedlings with a non-pigmented base.

This is the link of the auction items.  Enjoy. Item #20

Randal,
It is common knowledge that Yoshi Nakamura bred with Vico Yellows.
This does not rule out the possibility that he also had other yellows in his breeding programme.
I am sure others could add to this.
See Vico yellow in Gideons list.
Regards,
           Lionel.
