Gideon,

I must agree with Randal. This was an excellent idea of yours. My question ( as a pre-beginner ):- What is the difference between Group 1 and Group 2?
If it is a long explanation, can someone point me to a previous posting where it is explained?

TK Miniature Yellow and/or TK short BL Yellow is a Group2.  Kevin has bloomed seedlings of this crossed with Yellow Daruma Grp2..all yellow flowers.

Gideon, I see that you have Kirstenbosch Yellow in both gr 1 and gr 2 sections. Intentional or oversight? I thought it was gr1.

Unintentional, thank you

Gideon ,Thank you very much for beginning this topic.I am sure it will help a lot of us in doing the right crosses in the different groups.I don't think the Cameron's ,Tip ,Victorion peaches belongs to group 1. I would like if one can get clarity on this plants.

Take a look at the following post

George my friend -

There are two different yellow groups, if you cross a yellow from one with a yellow from the other you will most likely NOT get a yellow, as the gene(s) responsible are on different loci. See the excellent article on this subject by Rudo Lotter:

http://www.clivias.com/Articles/Article001.htm

If you intend to breed for yellow flowers, you need to keep this in mind. Also, you need to test any 'unknown' yellows you have if you want to breed most effectively with them.

Thanks Gideon
This list will help quite a lot for us beginners when cross pollinating. Then to find out you crossed a group one yellow with a group two peach and the siblings all turn out orange. Or you cross a group one yellow with a group two yellow which I nearly did.
This will be a good reminder for me when cross pollinating. But I prefer still to self pollinate the plant as you still get a wide variation of shapes and colours from the same plant. as I have experienced over the years.
Regards Frits

Gideon
This is a fine post well conceived.
I like the way the main topic stays at the head of the thread!
Thank you.

Humus,
Will let you know " In a minute "  LOL LOL LOL .

Almost sure Innominate Peach means "Unnamed" as in "still to be named".  Not unknown.
I will check with Sean. I am sure Peach Perfection is from " Chubb Peach which is Group 1.
