Found in my garden. What a beauty!
« on: September 08, 2010, 12:33:43 »
Hi all,

This plant was found in my garden this morning. Now safely in a pot. What can it be? Look at the difference between it and the normal orange in the front! I am over the moon!!!

Must be a first flower and must have been bred by my late father Dries. He would have made a somersault!

Frits, it is just a way I would have called Dries, when we had some discussions, and it is a plant which originates from Dries's collection.

Fritz,
I can remember your dad finding treasure like this before! It feels sad and funny at the same time, thinking of Dries finding a first time flowerer like this, and now you too it feels like deja vu.
I can clearly remember him finding a tiny variegated seedling, and then going out to look for more under the shrubs - and he found more! He showed us here on the forum, just like you.
I feel like I know that garden through him just on the forum, and I can't imagine how much you miss him, because I miss Dries a lot.

Hey Fritz, what a nice find! The flowers resemble very much to Florid White Lips (shape and outward colour of the petals), maybe our dear Dries used some White Lips and a light GT for it.
Borzois, cats, tropical plants - what a fun to have them around!

Beautiful plant Dries!
I hope it keeps the green as the flowers mature. Nice subtle colour!

Thank you Michael. Walking through the garden this time of the year brings back a lot of good memories. I can see him just standing there pondering over the plants.

Joyce..I think you might just have a point there..maybe one of his first seedlings from a white lips x ??? crossing.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I will post a picture update before the plant goes down to see if the GT lasted.

Here is some picture taken of the garden

Fritz, that dark flowered plant with the green throat near the front of the bottom pic would also be dug up and put in a pot if I found it in my garden!
